Our Second “Punters Corner” Addition

Standard

Welcome to the second addition of ‘Punters Corner’ – the area of the blog where we share our bets for the coming fixtures and encourage you to try and beat our selections.

We aren’t professional tipsters. We like to find value and make money and we’re confident over the season that we’ll be in the black. After Tuesday’s win on the both to score bet, we’ve had a good start (although this was a double as the Mansfield game was postponed.

With every team across the divisions playing this weekend, with a couple of great football matches on television for your viewing pleasure, we’ve found a couple of great bets for the weekend.

So, where do our selections lie and what is our reasoning behind them?

Bet number 1

Following our winner on Tuesday, we’ve decided to promote our ‘Both Teams To Score’ treble to bet number one and we hope we won’t be hit by the weather this time. Our selections are at the following games:

Birmingham City

Blackburn Rovers

Bury

bet2

Following their 1-2 defeat at home to league leaders Leicester City in midweek, The Blues will be hoping to turn around their recent home form in what will be their 5th home game on the spin. With 8 of their home games this season having seen both teams score and 10 of the last 11 meetings between these sides seeing both teams score, we reckon Birmingham are a good bet to bag, particularly with Federico Macheda joining on loan from Manchester United. Derby, on the other hand, have found finding the net an easy task this season, with a staggering 54 goals scored so far in The Championship. They have scored in their last 9 away Championship games and clearly finding scoring easy and as a result we think this will be a high-scoring encounter.

Blackpool are in a torrid run of form but despite this they have had 10 of their away games this season with both sides scoring. Blackpool will be looking to put to an end a run of 6 straight Championship away defeats and having strengthened the squad over the past couple of days, we fancy them to carry on their run of away games with both sides scoring. Blackburn Rovers have been relatively solid at home throughout this season, with Gary Bowyer cleverly diverting attention away from any ownership issues Rovers may have. Although they haven’t conceded many at home this season, the departure of Scott Dann at the back will weaken them and we think this will lead to both sides scoring.

8 of Bury’s home games this season have seen both sides score and The Shakers are currently on a strong run of home form despite their lowly position. Looking to improve their league position under new boss David Flitcroft, Bury will be hoping to defeat the side that are placed directly above them in the league. Wycombe Wanderers’ last 4 away league games have seen both teams score and they are unbeaten in that time too. They will be desperate to improve their current away record of 4 unbeaten in a bid to try and pull away from the danger zone. We have this down as a score draw.

£20 on this bet returns £110 on Betfred’s Goals Galore coupon and we think this would be a great way to start the weekend.

Bet number 2

We’ve also highlighted a treble for this Saturday at some tasty odds and we again believe this has a cracking chance of winning. The bet is simply 3 sides to win and they are:

Tottenham Hotspur

Wigan Athletic

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Spurs will be looking to bounce back from their humiliating drubbing at home to Manchester City in midweek as they travel to struggling Hull. The Tigers have lost 4 games in a row whilst Spurs have picked up 25 of their 43 Premier League points on the road. This looks a solid bet at a great price.

Wigan have been something of an improved side since Uwe Rosler took over in December and we have them down as comfortable home winners against Charlton Athletic at the DW Stadium. The Addicks have been on a torrid run of form lately, although their recent signings should perhaps cause concern.

Wolves have been on a good run of form and despite losing Leigh Griffiths, they have strengthened their front-line with the signing of League One top scorer Leon Clarke from Coventry City. Bradford City have only won 1 of their last 18 games in all competitions and we fancy the Black and Gold to record a home win.

This is best priced 4.61/1 on William Hill.

Welcome To Punters Corner

Standard

Welcome to ‘Punters Corner’ – The area of the blog where we share our bets for the coming fixtures and encourage you to try and beat our selections.

We aren’t professional tipsters. We like to find value and make money and we’re confident over the season that we’ll be in the black.

There are a whole host of fixtures across the leagues this season, with a couple of great football matches on television for your viewing pleasure. We’ve found a couple of great bets for Tuesday night and a bet that will last over the course of the season.

So, Tuesday night? Where do our selections lie and why have we selected them?

Bet number 1

Rotherham United to win at Tranmere Rovers

Coventry City to win at Leyton Orient

This is best priced at 6.6/1 on Bet365 and £20 returns £152

Screenshot1

Rotherham United have won 8 of their 13 away league games this season, scoring 22 goals in the process. They have gained a massive 26 points away from home which is way over half of their points this season. In stark comparison, Tranmere Rovers’ home victory over Crewe Alexandra was only their third home victory of the season and they have only picked up 14 home points all season, exactly half of their points. They have only scored 16 of their 30 goals this season at home and we feel this has away win written all over it.

The riskier element of this bet is Coventry City to win at Leyton Orient. Coventry have won 5 and only lost 3 of their 12 away games this season but have scored a massive 23 goals away from home. The reverse fixture saw the Sky Blues inflict Orient’s only away defeat of the season as they romped to a 3-1 victory at Sixfields. Leyton Orient have a strong home record but have lost 2 of their last 4 at home and could be vulnerable again tonight. This is likely to be a close one, but we think City can nick it.

Bet number 2

Our favourite bet is a both teams to score treble and that will become a feature of the Punters Corner. The three games we have selected for Tuesday night are as follows

AFC Bournemouth

Birmingham City

Mansfield Town

This is best priced at 9/2 using Betfred’s bonus Goals Galore coupon.

Screenshot2

AFC Bournemouth have been inconsistent all season but are currently unbeaten in 3 home league games. 7 of their home games this season have seen both teams score including their last 2 games which have both ended 1-1. Huddersfield Town have had a good season so far under Mark Robins and are building a squad capable of challenging for the play-offs. 8 of their away games have seen both teams score and although The Terriers have only scored 12 goals away this season, heart is taken from the fact that they have scored 3 in their last 2 away games against the two sides in the league with the best defensive records in Queens Park Rangers and Burnley. 12 of the last 16 meetings between the two sides have seen goals galore.

Birmingham City, about to play their fourth of five home games in a row had been having a revival of late until their defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion on January 11th. Since then they have lost at home to Yeovil and Swansea (FA Cup) but both teams have scored in 7 of Birmingham’s home games so far this season and we fancy them to bag versus Leicester. The league leaders are on a sensational run of 7 straight wins in the league – the third side to do that this season after Burnley and Derby County – and 8 of their away games this season have seen both teams to score. Given their recent run, they look a certainty to score. Six of the last seven meetings between these two sides have seen both sides score.

Mansfield Town haven’t won in their last 9 home league games but have scored in 6 of them. Again, like the two other home teams, 7 of their home games this season have seen both teams score. Notably, Mansfield have conceded 20 home league goals which is the worst in the division. Bury have scored 7 in their last 5 away games as they look to improve under new manager David Flitcroft and 8 of their away league games this season have seen both teams score.

Season long bet

Guiseley to win the Conference North (each way). Best priced at 14/1 on Bet365

After a torrid start, Mark Bower has turned around Guiseley’s fortunes and despite being 18 points off top, the Yorkshire side have 5 games in hand on leaders North Ferriby United. Guiseley are unbeaten in 11 with 8 wins and 3 draws and look like they will reach the play-offs again as an absolute minimum. We think they can keep up their great form for the majority of the season and have a real chance of winning the league. A cracking price at 14/1.
